Why do people get married?
The reason could be…. a public demonstration of their commitment one to another in front of family and friends, or the desire for their union to be not only legally recognised, but also by their own personal faith or religion. It can also represent the perfect opportunity for a girl to live out her childhood fantasy of being a true-life princess for a day, and wedded to her very own prince. On the other-hand it could just be “any excuse for a party”!!!
Whatever the reason, congratulations are in order!

The pleasant market town of Bedford, home of prison reformer and wealthy Cardington landowner John Howard, has several delightful places where couples can tie the knot. There is the Old Town Hall in the heart of town for civil ceremonies, or the Grade II listed building of St Mary’s Church in the picturesque village of Cardington, or even Elstow Abbey, founded in 1075. Afterwards photographs can be taken at the Embankment gardens on the banks of the River Ouse. This stunning location dates from the 19th century and is a very popular choice for a Bedford wedding photograph opportunity. The nearby Swan Hotel was rebuilt by Henry Holland for the Duke of Bedford in 1794 and is a popular choice of reception venue for Bedford brides….. and the Barns Hotel has a history which can be traced back to the 11th century when it was a monastic grange of Newnham Priory!
